Andreas Schillack (born November 29, 1898 in Allenstein , † October 20, 1944 in Munich ) was a German miner, communist and local politician. As a member of the resistance group around Franz Zielasko, he was executed as a victim of the Nazi justice system in Munich-Stadelheim .

Live and act

Andreas Schillack was born in Deuthen / Allenstein in East Prussia . In 1921 he came to the Herringen community , where he worked as a miner. From 1928 he was a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). He was also a member of the Association of Proletarian Freethinkers, the Red Front Fighters League and the League against Fascism . From 1929 he sat for the KPD in Herringen's local council, but resigned from the party in 1932, before the Nazis came to power. From October 14, 1933 to January 10, 1934, Schillack was imprisoned in concentration camps due to his opposition to National Socialism . Schillack first sat in Bergkamen-Schönhausen concentration camp, shortly afterwards in Pelkum and finally in Oranienburg concentration camp . In the following years, Schillack moved repeatedly. The last place of residence was Herringer Weg 4 in Hamm .

In 1943, Franz Zielasko , who had come from the Soviet Union , tried to establish a resistance group in Westphalia. Andreas Schillack belonged like his nephew of the same name, Andreas Schillack junior. to Zielaskos supporters. After the group was blown up and broken up by the Gestapo in August 1943 , both Schillacks were arrested. They were sentenced to death before the People's Court for “high treason and favoring the enemy” and executed on October 20, 1944 in Munich-Stadelheim with other co-defendants from the Zielasko group such as Friedrich Struckmeier , Gerhard Possner and Erich Porsch .

Honors

  • In 2011, in Hamm's honor, a footpath and cycle path, the Andreas-Schillack-Weg, was named after him in honor of Andreas Schillack.
  • At Schillack's last residence, Herringer Weg 4 in Hamm, a memorial stone was laid on June 2, 2009 .
