Andreas Steiner (politician)

Andreas Steiner (born November 30, 1954 in Lichtenstein / Sa. ) Is a German politician (non-party, formerly DSU ) and former member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

biography

Steiner attended the Polytechnic High School in Oelsnitz from 1961 to 1971 and passed his Abitur in 1974 with vocational training as a mechanic for data processing and office machines. In 1977 he completed training as a hardening specialist. 1974 to 1976 Andreas Steiner did his military service.

From 1977 to March 1990 he worked as a hardening specialist in the VEB booking machine factory in Karl-Marx-Stadt , Oelsnitz division. Since May 1991 he was an employee of the "Gauck Authority" in Chemnitz, and from 1995 to July 2001 head of the Chemnitz branch of the authority of the federal commissioner for the Stasi files .

Steiner is of Catholic faith, is married and has one child.

politics

In 1989, during the reunification of the GDR , Steiner joined the CSU Saxony (later DSU). Until 1993 he was district chairman of the DSU in Stollberg and a member of the DSU federal board. He has been non-party since 1993. In the first free Volkskammer election in 1990 , he was elected to the Volkskammer in constituency 08 (Karl-Marx-Stadt). From October 3 to December 20, 1990 he was a member of the Bundestag , where he joined the Union parliamentary group.

Steiner has been the full-time mayor of Hartenstein since 2001 .
