Andreas Victor Walser

Andreas Victor Walser (born September 23, 1976 in Schiers ) is a Swiss ancient historian .

Life

Andreas Victor Walser studied ancient history , economics and military history at the University of Zurich from 1996 to 2001 . In 2001 he passed his license examination. Between 2000 and 2006 Walser worked as an assistant to Christian Marek , and in 2006 he received his doctorate in ancient history. For the Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy in Munich, he worked as a research assistant (2006–2010) and research consultant (2012–2016). The commission's work was interrupted by a post-doctoral fellowship (2010–2011) from the Volkswagen Foundation at the Humanities Center at Harvard Universityand through a position as a teacher for special tasks at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (2010–2012). In 2016 he became an assistant professor with tenure track for the history of ancient cultures from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Middle East at the Department of History at the University of Zurich.

Walser researches especially on the inscriptions of Pergamon , on Sympolitien and the place Germia . He is married and has a daughter.
