Andreas Waldherr (born April 29, 1968 , † July 6, 2011 in Aspang ) was an Austrian rally driver .

Career

In 2000, Andreas Waldherr secured second place in the rally cup of the Supreme National Sports Commission for Motor Sports (OSK) of the ÖAMTC for diesel vehicles. He was able to win the OSK rally trophy for diesel vehicles three times (2001 to 2003). Waldherr has been driving the Austrian State Rally Championship with great success since 2004 .

His greatest success came in 2006 when he reached third place in the overall ranking. He achieved his first success in the Austrian state championship on 2/3. May 2008 at the Bosch Super Plus Rally in a VW Polo S 2000. Over the course of his career, Waldherr contested 72 rallies, three of which he was able to finish victoriously. Waldherr , who is involved with VW Racing Austria Klub , finished the 2010 season in second place behind national champion Raimund Baumschlager . 2011 did not go as well as he was only eighth after several problems. Waldherr also managed to prove his skills in circuit races; In 2006 he achieved third place in the Dubai 24 Hours and in 2011 he won the ranking for diesel vehicles in a Golf TDI .

Andreas Waldherr lived in Thomasberg , was married and had a son.

On the morning of 6 July 2011, Waldherr had a fatal accident in his workshop when he was crushed while lying under his rally car during maintenance work. At this point he was alone in the workshop where he was found around 11:30 a.m.
