Andreas Wermeling

Andreas Wermeling (* 1959 in Greven , Westphalia) is a German organist , jazz pianist and composer .

After completing his C-exam in Münster in 1976 and his Abitur in 1977, he studied church music , musicology , theology and music education in Münster and Dortmund .

From 1976 to 1987 he was a church musician in St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Greven, and since 1989 he has been organist in the St. Antonius Basilica in Rheine . In 1992 he founded the “Edition organum” label, with which he brought mostly unknown organ compositions onto the record market.

As a composer, Wermeling dedicates himself to integrating jazz and church music. He has written numerous works and arrangements for organ , choir and chamber music .

Since 1998 he has also been a district dean church musician for the Steinfurt district and teaches at the episcopal church music institute in Münster.

He is a member of the Wermeling-Wilson-Biewald jazz trio.
