Andreas Wessels (born July 6, 1964 in Uedem ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Wessels grew up on the Lower Rhine in the Kleve district and began his football career at SV Uedem. Via SC Kleve 63 he came to the former league club Viktoria Goch , where he was the goalkeeper of the men's team. In 1986 he moved to VfL Bochum . At first he was number two behind Ralf Zumdick . During the 1989/90 season he was the goalkeeper. As a goalkeeper, he played 121 Bundesliga games for VfL. 1995 Klaus Toppmöller signed two new goalkeepers with Thomas Ernst and Uwe Gospodarek , Wessels moved to SC Fortuna Köln in the 2nd Bundesliga . He was active there until the end of his career due to injury in 1998.

Private

Andreas Wessels has three children and runs a soccer hall in Cologne.
