Horst Weyerich (born August 13, 1957 in Nuremberg) is a former German soccer player . The Libero played 132 Bundesliga games for 1. FC Nürnberg , in which he scored 21 goals.

Career

Weyerich comes from Viktoria Nürnberg's youth . In 1970 he joined 1. FC Nürnberg, with whose junior team he won the A youth championship in 1974 alongside Peter Sommer , Günter Damping and Werner Dorok . In the following year he moved up to the professional squad and made his debut on March 27, 1976 for the "Club" in the 2nd Bundesliga . Matured into a regular player towards the end of the second division season in 1976/77 , he contributed in the following season with 14 goals this season to the resurgence of the then record champions in the Bundesliga .

In the first division, Weyerich was one of the regulars next to Detlev Szymanek , Klaus Täuber and Reinhold Schöll , but could not avoid relegation in 33 first division games. Under coach Robert Gebhardt , who had inherited the luckless Belgian Jef Vliers shortly after the start of the season , however, the renewed promotion succeeded. As a result, he was a regular for the club in the first division, before the team relegated again in the summer of 1984. He distinguished himself as a regular goalscorer, as he scored the penalties imposed in favor of his team . To this day he holds the record of the best penalty taker for the "club" in the Bundesliga with 13 converted penalty kicks. In October 1984 Weyerich was one of the five players who revolted against coach Heinz Höher and presented him with an open letter from the team. He was then terminated without notice by the association.

In the summer of 1985 Weyerich signed on with SpVgg Fürth , for which he played in the Bayern League for two years . He then let his career in the regional league end with ASV Zirndorf . Later he played for a few more years with the "Alten Herren" of TuS Bar Kochba Nürnberg . His main job is for Lebenshilfe .
