Andreas Worenz (born September 24, 1982 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian basketball coach and former player. As an active player , the 1.97 meter tall winger was part of the Bundesliga club UBC St. Pölten for many years and was an Austrian team player. He also played in Germany in the basketball league and in the 2nd basketball league .

career

Worenz, who came from St. Pölten's youth, made the leap into the Bundesliga line-up of UBC St. Pölten in the early 2000s .

With the UBC he also competed in the Korać Cup European Cup . He later went to Germany and rose to the top league in 2004 with SV Tübingen (later renamed Walter Tigers Tübingen ). From January 2005 he was in the second division for BV Chemnitz 99 . He became the team captain of the Saxons and, with 134 games for Chemnitz, played more than anyone before him. In Chemnitz he also met his future wife Susann. Worenz left the association in 2009 due to his call-up to the armed forces and thus switched to UBC St. Pölten.

Worenz studied sports science, psychology and sociology at the Technical University of Chemnitz .

In St. Pölten he played in the Bundesliga until 2014. As a trainer, he supervised youth teams in St. Pölten and from summer 2013 he was the sports coordinator of the Lower Austrian Sports Center in St. Pölten. In August 2017 he became the head coach of St. Pölten's men's team in the second division.
