Andrei Dmitrievich Polyanin
Andrei Dmitrijewitsch Poljanin ( Russian Андрей Дмитриевич Полянин ; born November 1, 1951 in Beijing ) is a Russian mathematician .
Poljanin graduated from Lomonosov University in 1974 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics. He received his doctorate in 1981 at the Institute for Problems of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and habilitated in 1986 (Russian doctorate). Poljanin was at the Institute for Problems in Mechanics from 1975 and professor there from 1991. From 2004 he was also a professor at Baumann University in Moscow .
Poljanin deals with differential, integral and functional equations and their applications, for example in hydrodynamics, heat transport or chemical engineering. He is known as the editor and author of manuals on differential and integral equations and also initiated a website on mathematical equations (Eqworld), of which he is the editor. He found many of the exact solutions listed and the solution methods developed for them himself.
In 1991 he received the Chaplygin Prize of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
