Andrei Dmitrievich Ushakov ( Russian Андрей Дмитриевич Ушаков * 25. August 1963 in Shymkent ) is a Russian animated film - director and - producer . He lives in Moscow.

Life

Ushakov was born in Shymkent in Kazakhstan and grew up in various former Soviet republics, from Kazakhstan to Belarus to Odessa in the Ukraine . He graduated in 1995 from the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography WGIK, the Moscow State Film School . He then completed a postgraduate course in animation film at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg .

Today Andrei Ushakov lives and works in Moscow. Since 2008 he has been a lecturer in the animation department of the Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography.

Ushakov's films are characterized by their haunting visual cinematic language ; his first films in particular were characterized by caricature and wit. In the films "About Love and Fly" and "The Socks of the Big City" he refined his graphic style and celebrated the melancholy of life in an alienated society.
