Sakharov Freedom Prize
The Andrei Sakharov Freedom Award (Norwegian Andrej Sakharovs frihetspris , English Andrei Sakharov Freedom Award ) is a prize awarded by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee to people and organizations who work for the protection of human rights in their country and therefore threaten or were arrested.
The prize has been awarded since 1980 in memory of the Soviet human rights activist Andrei Sakharov .
