Andreja Kulunčić

Andreja Kulunčić (* 1968 in Subotica , Vojvodina , SFRJ Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian media artist . She makes various social topics the subject of her artistic work and uses radio , posters, advertisements and projects on the Internet as media . Some of their projects are interactive .

She studied sculpture at the Belgrade University of Arts until 1992 and at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts from 1992 to 1994 . Andreja Kulunčić lives in Zagreb, Croatia. Since 2009 she has been teaching at the University of Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts in the media department.

“Kulunčić's best-known work Closed Reality Embryo (1999/2000) is Croatia's most widely presented web-based work of art. By involving scientists from relevant fields - philosophy, theology, biology, genetics, medicine, and physics - Kulunčić initiated a discussion about possible options for the creation of future generations. The work is designed as a game for two users who have to create an embryo of their choice online by choosing from several options given by Kulunčić. The statistical evaluation of the results was followed by numerous forum discussions by experts. "

Andreja Kulunčić took part in Documenta11 in Kassel, Manifesta 4 in Frankfurt am Main and the 8th Istanbul Biennale in 2003. She has shown works at PS1 and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
