Andres Jäschke
Andres Jäschke (born August 31, 1962 in Halle ) is a German chemist and professor of pharmaceutical and bio-organic chemistry at Heidelberg University . There he heads the chemistry department at the Institute for Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology . From 2012 to 2016 Jäschke was Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences.
He is married and has two children.
Career
Andres Jäschke studied chemistry at the Humboldt University in Berlin , then worked as a research assistant in the chemistry department, where he received his doctorate in 1993. rer. nat. with “summa cum laude”. Until 1995 he worked as a postdoc at the Department of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , then until 2002 as a research assistant / working group leader at the Institute for Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin. Jäschke has held the Chair of Pharmaceutical and Bioorganic Chemistry at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg since 2002.
Scholarships and Scientific Prizes
From 1993 to 1995 he received a postdoctoral fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service. In 1999 he was a prize winner in the BMBF's “BIOFUTURE” competition, and two years later he received the Helmut Bredereck grant for bio-organic chemistry. In 2010 he was awarded the “Distinguished lecturer medal” from the Italian Chemical Society .
