Andrew Applepie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrew Applepie (born September 27, 1989 in Munich ; bourgeois Andreas Plab ) is a German songwriter, musician and producer of experimental electronic music living in Berlin .

Career

At the age of 13, Andreas Plab began writing pop songs and was active as a singer and guitarist for the alternative indie pop band Cat Stash. He composed the title track Confidence for the movie About A Girl . Since the summer of 2015, the Indian musician and old-school hip-hop fan has been producing beats and songs as Andrew Applepie ("Andreas Apfelkuchen") using a wide variety of equipment - from normal and exotic instruments to classic beat machines and household appliances. He does not use samples from other artists for his own songs, as is usual in electronic music , but only parts he has played and recorded himself.

His music became known to a broader public in autumn 2015 when a number of YouTube personalities and popular vloggers such as Casey Neistat from New York City (YouTuber of the year 2016), Mark Rober from California and Alfie Deyes from Brighton with several million YouTube Subscribers started using his songs in their videos. Since then, a lot of unknown YouTubers around the world have been using his tracks. Thanks to this combination, Andrew Applepie's music spread very quickly and internationally. One of the most viral videos is Mark Rober's "25 MILLION Orbeez in a pool - Do you sink or float?" with over 20 million hits.

Since summer 2016 Andrew Applepie has been performing together with the Berlin jazz pianist and composer Lorenz Kellhuber under the name Hybrid Kings. Your individual sound is created by freely improvised live looping of acoustic instruments and electronic beats on stage.

In March 2018 he performed at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.
