Andrew Parker (politician)

Andrew Parker (born May 21, 1805 in Cumberland County , Pennsylvania , †  January 15, 1864 in Mifflintown , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Andrew Parker attended the public schools of his home country and then studied until 1824 at Dickinson College in Carlisle . After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1826, he began to work in Lewistown in this profession. At times, he was also the Deputy Attorney General in Mifflin County . From 1831 he was based in Mifflintown, where he continued to practice as a lawyer. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1850 congressional election , Parker was elected to the 17th  constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Samuel Calvin on March 4, 1851 . Until March 3, 1853 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . This was shaped by the events leading up to the civil war . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Andrew Parker worked as a lawyer in Mifflintown, where he died on January 15, 1864.
