Andrey Klassen

Andrey Klassen (* 1984 in Irkutsk ) is a Russian artist who lives and works in Dresden .

His work is characterized above all by large-format ink painting on paper with dream-like scenes with shadowy beings, people, hybrid beings, some of which are based on figures from pop culture, film icons and comic characters . He studied with Ralf Kerbach at the Art School in Irkutsk, Russia from 2001–2004 and at the Dresden University of Fine Arts from 2005–2010 . 2010–2012 he was a master student of Ralf Kerbach at the Dresden University of Fine Arts.

In 2015 Klassen was awarded the Marion Ermer Prize .
