Andrzej Abrek the Younger

Andrzej Abrek the Younger (Latinized: Andreas Abrek , Polish Andrzej Abrek młodszy ; † April 29, 1700 in Zamość ) was a Polish doctor of philosophy and theology who was a professor and rector at the Zamoyski Academy from 1664 to 1666 . His father was the professor Andrzej Abrek .

Life

Andrzej Abrek was born in Zamość, the son of Professor Andrzej Abrek. He obtained his degree and doctorate from the Zamoyski Academy, where he was appointed professor of rhetoric in 1656 . In 1658 he appears as a doctor of philosophy and canon of the Zamoyski collegiate foundation.

From 1664 to 1666 he was rector of the Zamojski Academy. In 1665 he became a prelate - scholastic , later provost of Tarnogród and titular royal secretary. 1695 he was finally infulierter dean of Zamosc.

For years he was in dispute with Stanisław Jacek Święcki , Bishop of Chełm and Chancellor of the Zamoyski Academy, because he wanted to reorganize the Academy. Abrek vehemently opposed these efforts.

He wrote several panegyric writings in Latin .
