Andrzej Seremet (2010)

Andrzej Seremet (born November 10, 1959 in Radłów ) is a Polish lawyer and since March 31, 2010 the Public Prosecutor of Poland.

Seremet studied law at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow until 1983 . Afterwards he was a trainee lawyer at the court of the Tarnów Voivodeship until 1985 . From 1986 to 1987 he was an assessor and from July 1987 to December 1990 a judge at the Tarnów Regional Court . In 1990 Seremet transferred to the Tarnów Voivodeship Court before resigning in March 1991 to visit friends and relatives in the United States. In March 1993 he was again a judge at the Voivodship Court. From April to June 1996 he was delegated to the Court of Appeal in Krakow, where he was a permanent judge from March 1997. From 2001 Seremet was deputy disciplinary attorney there ( Polish: Rzecznik Dyscypliny ). In 2008 he was seconded several times to the Supreme Court of Poland ( Polish Sąd Najwyższy ). President Lech Kaczyński appointed him Public Prosecutor General of Poland in March 2010, the opposing candidate was Edward Zalewski . Seremet began his six-year term on March 31, 2010. He became Poland's first attorney general in 20 years; so far the respective Minister of Justice had performed this task.
