Andy Stanton (* 1973 in London ) is a British children's author. He lives in London. After abandoning his English studies at Oxford , he worked as a stand-up comedian, screenwriter and cartoonist, among other things.

The German translation of the “Mr Gum” series is published by Verlag Sauerländer. As with the English originals, the illustrator is David Tazzyman. Translator was Harry Rowohlt . Sauerländer also published an audio book version for all books (except “Mr Gum and the gruesome dog from Bad Lamonisch”) with the spokesman Harry Rowohlt.

Awards

Stanton has received numerous awards for his books, including:

  • 2011: “Urzeitroboter 2011” for the funniest children's book of the year
  • 2008: Roald Dahl Funny Prize for the funniest book for 7-14 year olds
  • 2007: Fantastic Book Award
  • 2006: "Blue Peter" book award from the BBC for the best illustrated book
