Andy Töfferl

Andreas Andy Töfferl (born July 24, 1955 in Wolfsberg , Carinthia ; † May 5, 2012 in Graz , Styria ) was an Austrian multi-instrumentalist , actor and entertainer . From 1990 to 2001 he was a member of the band Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung and a colleague of Franz Zettl, among others .

Life

Töfferl completed an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk. As a teenager he already mastered several musical instruments. In the 1980s he founded the Andy J. Sam Phoenix Gang and opened the Sam sports studio in Graz .

In 1986, Töfferl entered into a marriage with a daughter and divorced two years later.

In the summer of 1990 he succeeded keyboardist Mario Bottazzi at the EAV, who had left the EAV for private reasons. He was best known for his acting roles, which he first performed on the Neppomuk tour in 1990.

Töfferl and Franz Zettl , with whom he had been working since 1992, separated from the band in 2001 in order to have more time for his own show programs such as Die Andy Töfferl Show and Las Vegraz Show , in which Franz Zettl participated. On August 26th, the last joint concert by Töfferl and Zettl with the EAV took place in the Hochrheinstadion in Bad Säckingen. Franz Kreimer , a founding member of the Ausseer Hardbradler , became his successor.

On the morning of May 5, 2012, Töfferl suffered a serious heart attack as a result of a ruptured aneurysm while watching television and fell into a coma. He died with his family at the LKH University Hospital Graz . The EAV received this message while on tour in Germany. He was buried on May 12, 2012 in his last place of residence - Fernitz .
