Franz Zettl

Franz Zettl (born March 12, 1947 in Labuttendorf , Styria ) is an Austrian multi-instrumentalist .

Life

Zettl first learned to play the accordion , followed by the trumpet at the age of nine . He attended the Academy for Music and Performing Arts Graz as well as the universities in Vienna and Saarbrücken.

In 1971 and 1972 he appeared as a background musician in live performances for Howard Carpendale , Dunja Rajter and Bill Ramsey, among others . In 1976 he graduated with an orchestral diploma. Between 1978 and 1988 he worked as a freelancer for ORF , from 1992 he was a duo partner of Andy Töfferl . From 1998 to 2001 he was keyboardist in the band Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung . From 2001 to 2014 he was a member of the STS band. He has been a member of the Gert Steinbäcker band since 2017. In addition to trumpet, keyboards and accordion, he has also mastered the trombone, flute, guitar , drums , saxophone and clarinet (Zettl has a good command of 30 instruments).
