Norbert Skowronek

Norbert Skowronek (born May 10, 1947 in Zabrze , Poland ) is a former German sports official.

Life

Skowronek grew up in Castrop-Rauxel. In 1966 he went to West Berlin and studied engineering and business administration at the Technical University . He worked at the Chair for Economic and Social Policy at the TU. From 1972 to 1975 he worked as a commercial manager at a metal processing company.

In 1975 he joined the Landessportbund Berlin (LSB) as a consultant for finances and administration . There he was appointed director in 1985 to succeed Manfred von Richthofen . He retired in spring 2012.

Services

During his tenure, the number of members doubled to more than 590,000. He initiated competitions such as the Berlin Sports Innovation Prize. Through his participation in the organizing committees of sporting events such as the 2006 Soccer World Cup , the 2009 World Athletics Championships , the German Gymnastics Festival and the Champions Trophy , he helped shape the sport beyond Berlin.
