Guru Angad Dev ( Panjabi : ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ,; * 31 March 1504 in Matae di Saran ; † 28. March 1552 ) was one of the ten founding Gurus of Sikhism .

Guru Angad Dev was born on March 31, 1504 in Matae di Saran. At the age of 15 he married his wife Mata Khivi. During his marriage he had three children, two sons and a daughter. Before he converted to Sikhism, his name was Lehna. Lehna was very religious. He became the religious leader in his village, praying and dancing for the goddess Durga .

At the age of 28, he first met Guru Nanak Dev , the founder of the Sikhs. Full of enthusiasm for the new theses, he served him for five years. Three months before Guru Nanak died, he appointed Lehna as second Guru and named him Angad Dev. Angad Dev took over and corrected the texts and hymns of praise written by Guru Nanak. These were written in punjabi. This created an entirely new language known as Gurmukhi (spoken from the Guru's mouth). After twelve years and nine months, Angad Dev made Amar Das the third guru of the Sikhs.
