Angela Fichtinger

Angela Fichtinger (born December 29, 1956 in Buchegg ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From October 2013 to June 2019 she was a member of the Austrian National Council and from 2005 to 2018 mayor of the municipality of Bad Traunstein .

education and profession

Fichtinger attended elementary school in Traunstein and then switched to Ottenschlag secondary school . Most recently, she completed her schooling by attending business school. She also attended the Political Academy of the ÖVP from 1994 to 1995, where she trained as a coach. In addition, she continued her education through various training courses in communication, public relations and IT. Professionally, she worked in the press department of Aktion Leben Austria from 1988 to 1992, before joining the ÖVP Lower Austria in 1992. Here she was most recently active as a consultant for education, human resources and social issues.

Politics and functions

Fichtinger has been the mayor of the market town of Bad Traunstein since 2005, before that in 2003 she had already become the communal party leader of the ÖVP Bad Traunstein. She has been a member of the ÖVP district board since 2005 and is also chairwoman of the ÖAAB Bad Traunstein community group and a member of the board of the ÖAAB in the Zwettl district. In addition, Fichtiger is state board member of the Lower Austrian AAB, board member in the Waldviertel heartland and in the leader region southern Waldviertel, board member in the community association and levy association for the district of Zwettl, board member in the project "Living in the Waldviertel" and district chairwoman of the education and homeland work. Fichtinger ran for the 2013 National Council election and won a mandate from the Waldviertel regional constituency . She was sworn in as a MP on October 29, 2013.

Fichtinger has been the auditor of the Niederösterreichischer Pressverein-Zeitungsverlag since 2012 and the treasurer of the small region Waldviertler Kernland since 2011. She is also deputy chairman of the art and culture association Prinz Eugen. Fichtinger is also active on the board of the Wachtstein tourist association, the Bad Traunstein village renewal association, the Sankt Georgshaus Traunstein cultural association, the Bad Traunstein helps association, the Traunstein cultural initiative and the Lower Austria educational academy.

On June 11, 2019, she resigned from the National Council, and Lukas Brandweiner replaced her .
