The Angelika Hartmann Monument is a listed monument for the pedagogue Angelika Hartmann (1829–1917) in Köthen (Anhalt) in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located south of Bernburger Strasse opposite the confluence with Langen Strasse in the immediate vicinity of the Köthen campus of Anhalt University .

Design and history

The memorial was erected in 1914, during the lifetime of Angelika Hartmann, who was born in Köthen. Hartmann was particularly an early promoter of the kindergarten system . The monument was created by the sculptor Paul Stuckenbruck . It was made of marble and shows a seated figure of Angelika Hartmann on a high, life-size plinth, surrounded by young women and small children in a naturalistic representation.
