Angelino Dulcert's map, 1339

Angelino Dulcert ( before 1339), probably identical to Angelino Dalorto (before 1320), was a cartographer from Mallorca . His Portolan of 1325, known as Dalorto, is the first to be created in Palma .

His map from 1339, known as Dulcert , was the first to show the island of Lanzarote , which belongs to the Canary Islands . The name of the island refers to its discoverer, the Genoese navigator Lancelotto Malocello , and is marked with the flag of Genoa , a red cross on a white background.

The description and the legend of both maps are written in Latin and thus differ from the portolans from Genoa or Venice . Dulcert's maps form the basis of the Catalan World Atlas of 1375 in terms of content and style .
