Angelo Geniani

Angelo Geniani (born October 20, 1802 in Varallo , † January 13, 1867 in Perugia ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman, Cistercian , abbot and abbot general .

life and work

Geniani was 1822-1834 Cistercian in the monastery Consolata ( "Maria Trost") in Turin then had to go to Rome go and went from there as abbot-vicar to the (since 1827 Cistercian) Santuario della Beata Vergine del Trompone in Moncrivello , province of Vercelli . In 1843 he became procurator to the King of Sardinia in Turin and abbot of the monastery of Santa Maria della Pieve in Cortemilia (Piedmont). From 1853 to 1856 he was (as successor to Tommaso Mossi ) Abbot General of the Cistercian Order and Abbot of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in Rome (successor: Teobaldo Cesari ). Then he headed the San Bernardo Monastery in Perugia (later dissolved).
