Anhofen is a district of the Upper Swabian market Markt Wald .

location

Anhofen is located about two kilometers north of the main town and is connected to it by State Road 2026 . The Neufnach runs in the western half of the village .

history

The place was first named as Anehoven in 1150 . The name could be interpreted by the rise of the book mountain with the syllable ana , which means as much as up. It would therefore mean up the hill for the courtyards . In terms of time, the Hofen locations followed the Ingen and Heim locations. The foundation can therefore be assumed in the clearing period of the High Middle Ages . It is assumed that the Guelphs carried out the colonizing clearing with the help of the local nobility of the area. The parish of St. Ulrich and Afra from Augsburg came into possession of a farm in 1170, which two brothers von Siebnach had bequeathed to the parish. The place has always belonged to the rule on the forest . As early as 1624 he had 42 properties. The economic structure in earlier times was interspersed with craft businesses such as carpenters, blacksmiths and millers that no longer exist there. A grinding mill is said to have been in the village as early as 1568. In 1866 the house was demolished; the remaining parts of the building were rebuilt. There has been a sawmill again since 1950. In the south of the village is the chapel of Our Lady , built around 1700 .
