Animal (from Lat. / . English animal "animal") is an American metal - band , led by former WASP guitar-player Randy Piper was founded.

history

Animal were founded in 1988 by former WASP guitarist Randy Piper together with singer Rich Lewis. Other musicians were Shreader (g), Burn (b) and Dave Dickinsson (d). The band built a reputation for being an excellent live band in the Los Angeles area in the late 1980s, drawing the attention of several record labels. A song from their demo ended up on the soundtrack for the film Return To Spring Break . Inept negotiating skills of various managers brought the band down before it really started. Lewis then formed the band Big American Dogs with TSOL's Mike Roche , while Piper formed King's Horses .

In 1995 Piper Animal reformed with Rich Lewis, Burn and new drummer Kelly Wilmot and started new demo recordings. In 1998 they recorded their first album, which was only released in 2003 under the title 900 Lb. Steam due to various complications . At times, other former WASP musicians such as guitarist Chris Holmes and drummer Tony Richards were part of the band's line-up. After guitarist Chris Holmes left, the Swedish musician and songwriter Chris Laney ( Zan Clan ) contacted the band to follow in Holmes' footsteps. With Laney, the band is recording their second album, Violent New Breed , which will be released in May 2006. Zan Clan drummer Johan Koleberg took part in the recordings.
