Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is a Nintendo- derived party game for the Wii U , which is part of the Animal Crossing video game series . It was released worldwide in November 2015 and is based on the use of amiibo figures and cards.

Gameplay

Similar to the Mario Party series, up to four players compete against each other on a game board. The aim of the game is to collect as many lucky points and stars as possible, which will ultimately determine the winner. Before starting, the players have the choice of which month they want to play and whether they want to reduce the playing time by over an hour per game. In a single game, the player competes against three computer players; from two real participants, the number of players is no longer increased.

Each player may throw the dice once a day to advance on the board. As a result, he ends up on a field where he can usually win or lose lucky points or stars. In addition, unlike the computer players, each player receives an additional lucky point for each dice roll. Every Sunday Sigrid is present in the village and offers all players to invest their money in beets before the start of the round. From this point on, a beet price is displayed next to each field on the game board in addition to the actual effect, which indicates how many sternis the players can sell their beets for there. The players have until the following Saturday to sell the beets. In addition, every weekday with the exception of Sunday there is the possibility that a special visitor visits the village. If this is the case, the effect is changed for a certain number of fields so that the player has an encounter with the special visitor when entering the field. The special visitors like Dr. Samselt, Smeralda or Katja are all known from the Animal Crossing series. Furthermore, a gyroid is waiting for the players at every corner of the game board, from whom they can pick up a stamp. By collecting the four stamps, a player can earn more lucky points.

Just like Animal Crossing: New Leaf , Animal Crossing: Amibo Festival has numerous days of festivities. For example, the character Pavo enters the village at Carnival; There is the possibility of meeting Chris on Christmas Eve. In addition, an insect or fishing tournament is held once a month. On all these days all fields of the game board are adjusted to the corresponding action.

The game ends on the last day of the month, unless a fixed game duration has been agreed before the start. On the last day, all players are forced to sell their beets. Then each player receives one additional lucky point for every 1,000 sternis. The player who then has the most luck points wins the game.

Amiibo

The game only works in conjunction with Amiibo figures and cards from the Animal Crossing series. One figure is required per player, which then represents that player's character within the game. To roll the dice, the Amiibo must be placed on the GamePad and removed from it again. An identical procedure already existed at the Amiibo Party of Mario Party 10 .

The game is always sold in a bundle with two amiibo figures and three amiibo cards.

There are currently 16 amiibo figures available that are compatible with Animal Crossing: Amibo Festival .
