At the beginning of the game the player chooses the appearance of his character and whether he would like to move to an island in the northern or southern hemisphere . Then the player selects an island from a selection of four different islands. Together with Tom Nook , who organizes the trip through the “Ripe for the Island Package” from his company “Nook Inc.”, and his nephew Nepp und Schlepp, the player flies to the island in a plane. In addition, two other animal neighbors accompany the player to the island at the beginning.
