Anita Meyer (born October 29, 1954 ) is a Dutch singer .

Anita Meyer performed as a child (together with her brother). She had her big breakthrough in 1976 when her debut solo single The alternative way climbed to number 1 in the Netherlands' charts. The composer of the song Hans Vermeulen also sang an interlude. Before that, she had already worked with him in his formation Rainbow Train as one of two singers. The successor singles sold well, but success gradually waned.

In 1980 Anita Meyer changed her record company. Why tell me why , their third single there, was number 1 in the charts for weeks and became the best-selling record of 1981 in the Netherlands. Several more successful singles followed.

In 1983 she first appeared with Lee Towers . In 1986 her duet with Lee Towers, Run to Me , went high in the hit lists. It was her last top 10 hit. However, her albums continued to sell well and she was still in demand live. Her concerts were well attended. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she played a few times in the sold out Ahoy .

In 1992, Anita Meyer decided to cut back a bit to have more time for her family. It mainly occurs at small festivals. In 2000 she appeared at a gala performance of Lee Towers at Ahoy.
