Anita Stewart , actually Anna May Stewart (born February 7, 1895 in Brooklyn , New York , † May 4, 1961 in Los Angeles , California ), was an American actress . She was a busy actress during the silent movie era . Her career quickly ended with the advent of talkies .
Life
Anita Stewart began her career in 1911 at the Vitagraph film studio , where she quickly rose to become a popular star of the day. In 1917, through her marriage to his brother, she became the sister-in-law of the then very well-known film director Ralph Ince . In 1918 Stewart accepted a financially lucrative offer and moved to Louis B. Mayer Pictures . Louis B. Mayer thus succeeded in entering film production, having previously successfully operated his own cinema chains. For a while, Anita Stewart produced her films through a separate unit, Anita Stewart Productions, within the studio. Her popularity began to decline by the middle of the decade, and her active career was finally brought to an end with the advent of talkies . The actress has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6724 Hollywood Boulevard .
