Anja Butschkau (* 19th February 1966 in Wattenscheid ) is a German politician of the SPD . She has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2017 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1986 at Hellweg Gymnasium in Bochum , Butschkau studied social work at the comprehensive university in Essen until 1989 . She completed an internship in social work and graduated in 1990 as a state-recognized graduate social worker . She then took up a job at the Arbeiterwohlfahrt and worked as an integration consultant in the youth community at the AWO district association in Bochum. In 1993 she took over the management of the youth community organization, became head of the “Social Services” department in 1995 and was head of the “Social Services” operation in the AWO district association in Bochum from 1998 to 2008. From 2003 to 2008 she acted as deputy managing director in the AWO sub-district Ruhr-Mitte. From 2009 until she moved into the state parliament in 2017, she worked as the head of public relations and association support in the AWO sub-district of Dortmund.

Anja Butschkau is married and has a grown daughter.

Butschkau has been a member of the SPD since 2001 and has been deputy chairwoman in the SPD district of Hombruch since 2014 . From 2014 to 2017 she was a member of the district representation in Dortmund-Hombruch. Since January 2018 she has been chairwoman of the working group for employee issues in the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia .

In the state elections in 2017 , Butschkau was elected as a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. She won the direct mandate in constituency 114 (Dortmund IV) with 38.6% of the first votes . In the state parliament she is a member of the Committee on Labor, Health and Social Affairs and the Committee on Equality and Women. She is the spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group on gender equality.
