Anja Hitzler

Anja Hitzler (born February 16, 1983 in Welzheim ) is a German archer .

Life

Hitzler came into contact with archery in 1993 during a project week at her school. Under ex-national trainer Franz Baum and national trainer Viktor Bachmann she found connection to the top in German archery. In 1999 she reached fourth place at the European Junior Championships. Two years later, she and the team won the gold medal at the European Junior Championships in Poreč, Croatia .

In order to be able to practice her sport professionally, she joined the German Armed Forces on October 1, 2002 as a sports soldier . She has been a member of the Potsdam Sports Promotion Group since 2008, trains at the federal and state archery base in Welzheim and starts for SGI Welzheim.

In 2004 she took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Athens for the first time and achieved seventh place with the German team in the team competition. In 2007 she became vice world champion as a member of the German team in Izmir . In her second Olympic participation at the Games in Beijing, she met tournament favorite Park Sung-hyun in the round of 32 and after a long even fight she had to admit defeat only in the last series with 107: 112.
