Sung-hyun Park

Park Sung-hyun (born January 1, 1983 ) is a South Korean archer . She is three-time world champion with the team and won a world championship gold medal in singles. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , she won the gold medal both individually and with the team. At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she was able to defend the title with the team.

Career

Park Sung-hyun took part in a world championship for the first time in Beijing in 2001 and won the individual title on her debut and was also third with the team. Two years later at the World Cup in New York City , she narrowly missed defending her title and won the silver medal in singles. With the team Park Sung-hyun could improve and win the title. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , Park Sung-hyun was double Olympic champion when she won both the individual and the team competition.

After the Olympic Games in 2004, further world championship titles followed with the team that they won in Madrid and Leipzig . In Madrid she was also third in the individual, in Leipzig she won silver in the individual competition. In 2007 Park Sung-hyun was also able to secure two World Cup victories with the team in Antalya and Ulsan . At the World Cup in Ulsan, she was also able to win the individual. In 2008 she reached third place in the individual competition in the World Cup in Antalya and Poreč . At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she was able to defend the title with the team with a 224 to 215 over China. Park Sung-hyun also competed individually and was the first to survive the placement round. In the first round she beat the Moroccan Khadija Abbouda and then in the round of 32 the German Anja Hitzler . In the final she was defeated by the Chinese Zhang Juanjuan .
