Anja Schlewing

Anja Schlewing (born September 28, 1957 in Lorch ) is a German lawyer . She is a judge at the Federal Labor Court .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Hammonense in 1976 , Schlewing first studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia until 1979 . She then worked as a city inspector for the city ​​of Hamm until 1982 . In 1982 she decided to take up a legal profession and study law at the University of Münster . There she passed her first state examination in law in 1987. Schlewing subsequently worked as a research assistant for Wilfried Schlüter . Under his supervision, she became a Dr. in 1990 with the labor law work “The scope of company co-determination in the award of voluntary company social benefits according to Section 87 (1) No. 10 BetrVG”. iur. PhD. In April 1992, after completing her legal clerkship, she passed her second state examination in North Rhine-Westphalia and then worked for a Bielefeld law firm before joining the judicial service of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as an administrative judge in October 1992. There she was employed at the administrative courts of Minden and Münster until May 1996 .

On June 1, 1996 Schlewing moved to the labor court of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and was employed at the Dortmund labor court . In July 2004 she moved to the Hamm Regional Labor Court as presiding judge . In 2007 she was elected as a judge at the Federal Labor Court and assigned to the 3rd Senate, of which she became Deputy Chair in 2012. In July 2014, Schlewing was appointed honorary professor at Bielefeld University , where she has been teaching since 2006. Schlewing has been chairwoman of the 8th Senate of the Federal Labor Court, which is primarily responsible for compensation for damages, transfers of operations and related dismissals, claims for continued employment and reinstatement since September 2015 .
