Anja Zimmermann

Anja Zimmermann (* 1968 ) is a German art historian .

Life

She studied art history, empirical cultural studies and education in Würzburg and Tübingen . After completing her doctorate in 1999 at the University of Tübingen ( Konrad Hoffmann ) on Abject Art, she was a freelancer at the New Museum of Contemporary Art from 1996 to 1999 . From 1999 to 2005 she was a research assistant for art history at the University of Hamburg . After completing her habilitation in 2006 at the University of Hamburg (Aesthetics of Objectivity), she held substitute professorships and teaching positions in Hamburg, Klagenfurt , Bern , Vienna and Zurich from 2006 to 2012 . From 2009 to 2012 she was a Heisenberg scholar at the University of Oldenburg , Institute for Art History and Visual Culture. From 2013 to 2014 she was a professor at the LMU .

Her focus is on modern and contemporary art and art history with a focus on art and natural sciences; Gender Studies and History of Science.
