The Sae Islands are the northernmost archipelago in the Western Islands area of the Bismarck Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean . They are located about 80 km north of the Hermit Islands .
geography
The group consists of two small islands enclosed by a common coral reef . The larger, densely overgrown island of Sae is located in the southeast of the group, another, much smaller and almost vegetation-free island in the north.
politics
Administratively, the uninhabited group belongs to the Manus Province in Papua New Guinea , and therein to the Nigoherm Rural LLG (Local Level Government) Area .
The Sae Islands are often grouped together with the Kaniet Islands , which are about 30 km southeast, as the island area of the Kaniet (Sae) Islands , although they are two geographically separate archipelagos.
