The Bat Islands are a small uninhabited group of islands in Papua New Guinea . They are located in the northwest of the Purdy Islands , a subgroup of the Admiralty Islands in the Bismarck Sea .
The group consists of two small, densely vegetated islands of triangular shape, which are surrounded by a common reef, the outline of which is reminiscent of a butterfly or a bat (English: bat ).
Politically, the Bat Islands are part of the Manus Province .
