The Siassi Islands are a group of islands in Papua New Guinea in the western Pacific . They belong to the Morobe Province and are located in the west of the Bismarck Archipelago , about 55 kilometers northeast of the east coast of New Guinea and 35 kilometers west of the island of New Britain .
Islands
The islands are mostly of volcanic origin; some have active volcanoes. By far the largest is Umboi ; the capital Siassi is also located there .
