The Citation Mustang ( also Cessna 510 ) is a light jet ( Very Light Jet ) designed for business travel by the American manufacturer Cessna , which was built from 2005 to 2017.

Equipped with two jet engines, the Mustang is the smallest jet in the Citation family of aircraft . The VLJ is fitted as standard with four club-style seats; a fifth passenger can be seated in the cockpit instead of the second pilot. It is equipped with a glass cockpit , autopilot and weather radar from Garmin . The jet may also be flown by only one pilot, the maximum take-off weight is less than 4,540 kg.
history
The Cessna Citation Mustang completed its maiden flight on April 23, 2005. It was approved on September 8, 2006. Just two months later, on November 23, 2006, the first copy was delivered. The 300th aircraft left the factory in February 2010. The highest number (125 pieces) was delivered in 2009. In the four years from 2013 to 2016, only 26 Mustangs were handed over to customers, which led to the decision to stop production. The last machine was completed on May 11, 2017.
Turkish Airlines trains its pilots on two Citation Mustangs, among other things.

Incidents
On December 14, 2017, a Citation Mustang registered in Austria crashed while approaching Friedrichshafen Airport near Waldburg ( Ravensburg district ). The machine started in Frankfurt-Egelsbach and had three occupants on board, none of whom survived the accident. The aircraft belongs to the Bregenz flight service "Skytaxi"; Among the dead was the company's pilot and managing director and the German architect and entrepreneur Josef Wund .
