The Cessna 408 SkyCourier is a twin-engine cargo transport and passenger aircraft with turboprop engines that is being developed by the American manufacturer Textron Aviation . The project was released on November 28, 2017 after FedEx ordered 50 fixed and 50 more aircraft as options. The short-haul aircraft , designed as a shoulder- wing aircraft with rigid landing gear, is available in two versions, which are designed either for the transport of three LD3 containers or a maximum of 19 passengers.

interpretation

The aircraft will be available as a 19-seat passenger version with large cabin windows and separate crew and passenger doors, as well as a cargo version with a level cargo area floor, loading system and large cargo door (87  in (2.21  m ) × 69  in (1.75  m )). The cabin is not pressurized and the landing gear cannot be retracted. The design follows the requirements of FedEx, which has a large fleet of Cessna caravans that are to be replaced after more than three decades of use. With the new development, both companies expect better freight capacities and performance data with lower operating costs than would be possible with comparable aircraft.
