The Cessna 182 (also Cessna Skylane ) is a single-engine light aircraft . It was developed by the US aircraft manufacturer Cessna based in Wichita (Kansas) and built from 1956 to 1985; In 1996 series production, which had since been discontinued, was resumed. It is one of the most popular types of aircraft in the world.
technical features
The machine is a single-engine strutted shoulder wing wing that offers space for four people. It is a variant of the Cessna 180 equipped with a nose wheel landing gear . The machine, made entirely of metal, has a conventional vertical stabilizer in the heavily arrowed shape customary for Cessna. All models have a variable pitch propeller , the RG models also have a retractable landing gear (retractable gear).
Since 2005, the aircraft can also be equipped with a Garmin G1000 series glass cockpit upon request .
commitment
The machine is used as a sports, travel, training and surveillance aircraft and is often used for dropping parachutists. It is also used by the North Rhine-Westphalia Police and the US Civil Air Patrol . It is also used by the armed forces of Argentina , Guatemala , Lesotho , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela .
history
The aircraft was introduced in 1956. In 1957, the Cessna 182 A, which had some improvements and was first named "Skylane", was presented. Variants of the Lycoming O-540 and the Continental O-470 are used as drives .
Cessna issued licenses for production to DINFIA in Argentina , where the aircraft was named A182, and to Reims Aviation in France , which rebuilt it under the name F182.
The Cessna 182 was and is built in a number of variants. Due to strict product liability regulations, the company stopped manufacturing in 1985. By then, 21,864 had been built, 169 of them F182 and FR182 at Reims Aviation. In 1996, the Cessna 182 went through another approval process. The first flight of the new prototype with the designation 182S was on July 15, 1996. The approval was granted by the FAA in the same month. As a result, production was resumed in September 1996 and has continued to this day.
