The Cessna 425 Corsair / Conquest I is a pressurized twin-engine turboprop aircraft manufactured by the American manufacturer Cessna .

development and construction

The Cessna 425 is in the range of Cessna expanding the Cessna 421 with turboprop -Triebwerken is. Apart from the approximately the same size it is, however, been a new development in large parts of the admission of the Federal Aviation Authority in the summer of 1980, Federal Aviation Administration received . Initially referred to as the Corsair , the type's maximum take-off weight was increased to 8,600 pounds (3900 kg) and the name was changed to Conquest I ; In retrospect, this increase applied to all manufactured Cessna 425.

The design includes an additional storage compartment in the bow section that can hold bulky items such as skis up to a weight of 600 pounds (272 kg); however, when the tanks are completely full, a maximum load of 697 pounds is possible, passengers and their luggage added. There were various possible arrangements for the six possible seats in the cabin, with most of the machines being built with a so-called "club arrangement" (two seats in and two against the direction of flight with two more in the rear part of the cabin).

The Conquest was divided up from the outset a plane for a market which already have other types of aircraft among themselves, especially the Beechcraft King Air and Piper Cheyenne . In addition, small jets (e.g. Embraer Phenom 100 ) were added later , so that the economic success of the machine was ultimately limited.

The drive for the Conquest I consists of two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-112 engines; the slightly larger Cessna 441, known as the Conquest II , is powered by two Honeywell (Garrett) turbines. Production began in 1981 and ended in 1986 after a total of 236 copies.
