The Phenom 100 (type designation EMB-500 ) is a Very Light Jet (VLJ) from the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer .

The first flight of the Phenom 100 took place on July 26, 2007 in São Paulo . The approval of the Brazilian aviation authority ANAC was granted on December 9th, 2008, that of the FAA on December 12th, 2008 and that of EASA on April 24th, 2009. The first aircraft was handed over to the end customer on December 24th, 2008. Production takes place in the Botucatu plants in Brazil, at Neiva Aeronautic Industry (a subsidiary of Embraer) and in Melbourne in the US state of Florida. The type designation of the jet is EMB-500, with the marketing name being Phenom 100.

A revised version of the Phenom 100 is coming in 2017. Among other things, there are new flight instruments and modified engines with more power, which improve the hot and high capabilities in order to shorten the required take-off distance and allow the modified Phenom 100 to climb faster. In addition to the Mexican business flight operator Across, Emirates has also ordered the modified Phenom 100 for its future pilot training.

The machine in its normal configuration has a capacity for four passengers and can carry up to six passengers when the toilet is removed. It has a maximum range of around 2100 kilometers and a cruising speed of up to 700 km / h. Its fuselage and wings are conventionally made of aluminum alloys, but the tail unit is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic .

Incidents

On December 8, 2014, a Phenom 100 crashed into a residential area in Gaithersburg , Maryland while approaching Montgomery County Airpark . The three occupants and three residents of a house were killed in the accident.
