variants
Legacy 600
The Embraer Legacy 600 is a variant of the Embraer ERJ-145 family . The jet has expanded tank capacity and winglets . The program was launched at the Farnborough Air Show in 2000. The Legacy Shuttle is also offered as a derivative, which combines the same cabin configuration as the ERJ 135 with the range of the Legacy. 71 aircraft have been sold to date.
Legacy 650
The Embraer Legacy 650 is based on the Legacy 600 with the same external dimensions, but uses a modified version of the Rolls-Royce AE 3007 A2 engines and has a longer range of 7223 km. The maximum take-off weight was increased to 24,300 kg, which is why the wings and landing gear had to be structurally reinforced. The cockpit is equipped with the Primus Elite avionics package from Honeywell, which is also offered as a retrofit kit for the Legacy 600. A maximum of 14 passengers can be accommodated in the cabin (separately controllable air conditioning for three different areas, additional insulation and extensive communication equipment). The aircraft had its maiden flight on September 23, 2009 at Embraer Unidade Gavião Peixoto Airport and was officially presented in October 2009 at the NBAA -BACE business aviation trade fair in Orlando. The approval by the Brazilian ANAC and the European EASA took place on October 20, 2010. The approval of the FAA was granted at the beginning of March 2011. The first machine was delivered to British businessman Alan Sugar on November 19, 2010 . The Embraer Legacy competes with types like the Bombardier Challenger 850 .
Incidents
During the 1907 Gol Transportes Aéreos flight on September 29, 2006, a Legacy 600 collided with a Boeing 737-800EH in the air between Brasília and Manaus . All 154 occupants of the Boeing died in the crash. The Legacy had to make an emergency landing and the seven occupants got away with the horror. The cause of the incident was an incorrect altitude and the inadvertently switched off transponder of the Legacy.
