The Cessna 185 Skywagon is a six-seater American light aircraft manufactured by Cessna , of which around 4,400 units were built from 1961 until production was discontinued in 1985.
development
The Cessna 185 is a further development of the Cessna 180 with a reinforced fuselage structure, larger fin and more powerful engines from 260 to 300 hp, compared to the maximum 230 hp of the Cessna 180. The AgCarryall spray aircraft variant is equipped with a tank for 572 liters under the fuselage . The USAF's military designation is U-17. The name Skywagon was later used for the first Cessna 207 .
construction
The single-engine, all-metal shoulder-decker has a non-retractable tail wheel landing gear and a piston aircraft engine with up to 300 hp. The propeller is adjustable. The flight characteristics are considered good-natured.
In a converted version with only one pilot's seat, the aircraft is also used by parachute clubs to bring parachutists to the desired height and drop them there.
