The Cessna 620 was the project of a four-engine business jet aircraft from the US manufacturer Cessna from Wichita, Kansas .

Construction and history

The Cessna 620 was a cantilever all - metal low- wing aircraft with retractable nose wheel landing gear and conventional tail unit . Four Continental GSO-526 with reduction gear and supercharger were used as drive . An auxiliary turbine in the stern supplied the pressure cabin and air conditioning . There was space for eight to ten passengers. The equipment was designed for unrestricted instrument flight .

Development work began in September 1953 and the first flight took place on August 11, 1956. The market launch was to take place in 1958, the calculated unit price was between 300,000 and 400,000 US dollars . For this price, however, you could already purchase a larger Convair CV-240 or Martin 4-0-4 in mint condition , which greatly reduced sales opportunities. The project was therefore discontinued in October 1957. The only prototype with the registration number N620E was sold after only 50 flight hours and later scrapped.
