Kaniet (Sae) Islands

Coordinates: 0 ° 49 '48 "  S , 145 ° 25' 22"  O Kaniet (Sae) islands , and Iles des Anachorettes (German outdated: Anachoreteninseln ), a summary of two nearby uninhabited atolls or islands in the region called the Western Islands of the Bismarck Archipelago .

Administratively, the two independent island groups belong to the province of Manus in Papua New Guinea , and within it to the Nigoherm Rural LLG (Local Level Government) Area .

The two archipelagos are located approx. 1,100 km northeast of Papua New Guinea's capital Port Moresby and 200 km northwest of the provincial capital Lorengau . The island area includes:

  • the Kaniet Islands , with the main island Suf and the island Tatak as well as the former Motus Taling , Vasan and other smaller Motus .
  • the Sae Islands, about 30 km northwest of the Kaniet Islands .
